Travelling in Saudi Arabia, I did not find any restriction taking photographs and videos, apart from the normal teaching and religious restrictions. When working with girls only groups as a teacher, you are not really allowed to take pictures of your students. Pictures in public places are allowed and
I personally love Saudi Arabia and despite the media stories, I have realized that women have freedom to study, have their own businesses and thrive. As a teacher, I have seen my students take everything they have learned in Graphic Design and Photography and turn it into the Social Media success or a business.
Saudi Arabia is a beautiful country with beautiful architecture and beautiful historic sites, and landscapes.
I would advice any teachers travelling to Saudi Arabia to take wonderful movies of the call to pray which was my favorite time of day, as the atmosphere is really peaceful and moving.
I also found travelling for women safe with Careem as drivers are secure and company is known to provide safe travel for women. I did not need to hire a driver as the college I worked for provided me safe transport to and from work.
I also found that Saudi Arabia promotes the work of women photographers, and designers and found this amazing.
I really think the being locked up in a secure area is not the way to understand the country and living with the locals is the greatest opportunity. I met quite a few French people there who really helped understand the culture and gave me advice on traveling for photography.
